About the Dance Company

The Gypsy Moon Dance Company offers an eclectic blend of Traditional, Fusion, Interpretive, and Experimental belly dance. Weaving traditional and non-traditional elements of Cabaret, Gypsy, and Folkloric dances from Spain, Europe, the Orient, the Middle East, Egypt, India, Central Asia, and the Americas, with American Urban, Gothic, Nostalgic, and Mainstream Pop Culture; the tapestry is diverse and unexpected.

CLASSES are available for multiple ages, levels, and aspirations; from the casual dancer to the would-be professional. Taught in a fun and supportive environment, students are encouraged to share their individual creative energies and ideas. While the focus is on choreography, lessons include isolations, drills, and basic form, as well as the use of props such as baskets, fans, canes, swords, zills, and veils, to name a few.

SHOWS are performed twice a year, after the Spring and Fall class sessions. Participation is encouraged, but voluntary. As always, the emphasis is on offering the audience as well as the performer an enjoyable experience. Often theme-based, and always family-friendly, shows are rich with colorful costumes, up-beat music and dance, and the occasional unusual character or three. Dances blend influences of Flamenco, Cabaret, Gypsy Fusion, and American Belly Dance; but sometimes, WE JUST MAKE STUFF UP!
